In the heart of Ablekuma, Greater Accra, the life of a 26-year-old primary school teacher has been turned upside down after falling victim to a horrifying organ-harvesting scheme. Rita (not her real name) lost one of her kidneys to the man she believed was her true love, only to be abandoned without a trace.

After losing her mother to kidney failure in 2019 and her father the following year to heartbreak, Rita struggled to rebuild her life. Seeking solace, she joined a church, where she met a man named “King,” whose charm and devotion to faith won her trust. However, after a whirlwind romance, King lured her into a terrifying ordeal.

King proposed an unexpected trip to Dubai after just a month of knowing each other, and soon after, the pair travelled to Singapore. It was during this trip that Rita was drugged, and one of her kidneys was surgically removed without her consent. By the time she woke up, King had vanished, leaving her devastated and without answers.

Despite her traumatic experience, Rita managed to return to Ghana. However, her search for King revealed he had been using the church as a hunting ground for organ harvesting, preying on unsuspecting victims. Rita, now filled with distrust, warns others of the dangers lurking even in sacred spaces like churches.
