MR. JOHN MAHAMA SPEAKS WITH THE MEDIA

 

Ex- President John Dramani Mahama who is currently a Presidential Candidate of The National Democratic Congress has a discourse with The Media at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Sunday 7th July 2024.

President Mahama envisaged a new “Abuja” for the Ghanaian Anatomy. He stated that he will work towards creating a new city to ease off the burden in administrative functioning in Accra.

President Mahama noted that the Covid levy will be scrapped off. He noted that even China where the pandemic originated from had their covid levy scrapped off after the pandemic but Ghana continued to institute the covid levy years after the pandemic, and he will scrap it out as well as other nuisance taxes, as soon as he comes to office as President of the Ghanaian Anatomy

President Mahama also promised to restore licenses of Banks that were unjustly taken like that of Dr. Paa Kwasi Nduom’s Bank and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor.

He also urged the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Speaker Alban Bagbin who is from the National Democratic Congress to quicken the passing of the Affirmative Action Bill and Ammendments of Citizenship to allow dual citizens to participate particularly in the space of Parliamentarians in the country.

Mr. Mahama noted that he will squeeze the number of Government functionaries to about 60 and take a deeper watch on the fight against corruption in the country.

President Mahama stated that he is looking forward to collaborating with the Private Sector in building more hostels across the tertiary institutions in Ghana.

President Mahama at the Media encounter noted that gender equality will be a reflection in his priorities. He also noted that his Government will create about 300, 000 Jobs in the digital sector. He also stated that all regions in the country will have agro industrial zones.

He stated that he is not looking forward to building an ultra modern world class sports stadium like Wembley in United Kingdom, but sports facilties will be built throughout the country.

He stated that he did not congratulate President Akufo-Addo for removing the Finance Minister; Hon. Ken Ofori Atta, whom he had requested to be removed due to his performance, because the harm had already been done to the country’s economy.

Ex-President Mahama also stated that he will strengthen the office of the Special Prosecutor and remove all forms of Political interference in that office to enable the office of the Special Prosecutor to function effectively.
