Arrest of Tamale Mallam for Alleged Ritual Killings Sparks Outrage

A well-known Mallam from Kakpayili near Bamvim, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region, has been arrested by police for allegedly engaging in ritual killings. The suspect, Afa Abdul Rahman Madaha, is accused of murdering two children who went missing recently, prompting residents to burn down his house.

The grisly discovery was made when the bodies of the children were found in an abandoned car at Madaha’s residence. According to Assemblyman Hafiz Andani, twin boys and their friend had visited the suspect’s house, but only one of the twins returned home. Upon questioning, the returning twin revealed that his brother and their friend had stayed behind at Madaha’s house.

When the children failed to return, the mother raised an alarm. Despite being questioned, the suspect denied any knowledge of their whereabouts. However, an informant tipped off the parents, leading residents to storm Madaha’s house. They apprehended him and took him to the chief’s palace, where tensions escalated as residents threatened to lynch him.

Police intervention prevented a mob lynching, rescuing Madaha and initiating a search that revealed the body parts of the victims in an abandoned car on his property. The remains were transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, as the community grapples with shock and outrage over the alleged ritual killings.
