Salesgirl Jailed 6 Months for Stealing GHS 21,000

In a courtroom drama in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Laadi Sulemana, a salesgirl, faced justice for her role in a theft totaling GH¢21,787. After a two-month trial, she was sentenced to six months in prison for her crime. The case unfolded with Beatrice Asante Adjei, a firefighter, lodging a complaint after discovering a significant inventory discrepancy in her poultry products store near the old lorry station.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Asare revealed during proceedings that the missing products, initially totaling GH¢21,245.00, were suspected to have been fraudulently sold by Sulemana. Despite her claims of crediting the missing goods to a customer, investigations unveiled no such transaction. Furthermore, additional discrepancies were uncovered, further implicating Sulemana in the theft.

Adjei’s diligence led to the discovery of an additional fraudulent transaction, raising suspicions and ultimately leading to Sulemana’s confession during police interrogation. The case highlights the importance of vigilance and accountability in preventing and addressing financial crimes in local communities.
